No Such Thing

1: No Such Thing
written by danielle vaughn | copyright 2012 (ascap)
Run past the old, worn barn / Break into
a run ‘cause I heard it’s haunted / Run
fast, the ghosts mean harm / They love a
thrill and my sanity’s wanted / It feels
dark in the middle of the day / when the
old womans laughing at me from the oth-
er side / If you’re stone cold dead / Why’m
I listening to you anyway / Run down
the creaky old stairs / Cellar of my past,
hurry find what / I’m looking for / Brush
past memories that last / Shivers up my spine
I forge what I’m looking for / Some-
thing in the corner is laughing at me
Shadows shifting with a wicked grin
Want to follow me around / Like they
know something, know where I’ve been
If you’re only in my head / Why’ve you
got this hold on me / I’ve gotta shake this
underlying dread / Was there ever any
such thing... / There’s no such thing as you
I don’t look at the scary scare-crowe
When I walk by, I swear I hear a sound
/ Corn field rows and spiders on my
toes / But I’m gonna burn you to the
ground / Instead of flight, I’m ready for
a fight / Fear only has the power I give
it, I’m learning / Light the flame, you
are just a game / I claim victory while
I’m watching you burning / You’d think
that by getting older / I could stop
looking over my shoulder / Makes me
blind to what lies ahead / When you’re
hanging onto reason by a very thin thread

2: ROCKETSHIP
YOU’RE IN A ROCKETSHIP AND I CLIMBED ABOARD / I FELT THE THRILL OF YOUR KISS AND
WANTED MORE / SOMEHOW, I CONVINCED YOU THAT I CAN BE BRAVE TOO / THAT I KNOW
WHAT I’M DOING BUT I’M ONLY A FOOL. / I MIGHT CRASH, I MIGHT BURN, AND I STILL HAVE
SCARS FROM THE LAST TIME / I’VE NEVER BEEN THIS HIGH, THIS FAST, BEFORE / THERE’LL BE NO
MISSION CONTROL, IF I’M LEFT FLOATING OUT THERE ALL ALONE / NO PARACHUTE LANDING
FOR ME, AND I DON’T HAVE WINGS OF MY OWN / I COULD STAY ON THE GROUND SAFE AND
SOUND / AND HOPE THIS FEELING SUBSIDES / OR START THE COUNTDOWN AND BUCKLE UP /
FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE RIDE. / THIS TRIP UN-STEADIES MY HAND / I’M FINDING MY COURAGE,
DON’T WANNA LAND / NOW WE’VE PASSED UP THE MOON / WON’T BE COMING BACK
DOWN ANYTIME SOON / ALL I SEE IS STAR-LIT FACES / AND I LOVE HOW YOUR LOVE
ERASES / ANY WORRIES I MIGHT FEEL / WAY UP HERE WITH YOU, TIME STANDS STILL...

Pruning Time

3: what a rose would say at Pruning Time
It happens fast, the agony / cutting deep inside of me / Until I find
myself completely shaken. / I lose my balance, I hold my breath
It doesn’t stop, all I can think is this’ll be the death, this’ll be
the death of me. / Na na Na na Na na Na na Na na – Here we
go again / La la La la La la La la La la – It doesn’t ever end
Na na Na na Na na – There’s nothing left / When it hurts so deep
I wonder how I’ll ever make it through / I wanna run, I wanna hide
but I’ve got to think about my pride / and deep deep down I know this’ll make
me stronger. / Underneath this messy mess / It hurts like hell, I do confess
Time to dig in my heels, if it kills me, and stand my ground. / And finally
I see it, eyes change their point of view / To the landscape as a whole,
forest, trees, and flowers too / And finally I see it, a garden always growing
Seeds are sowing, winds are blowing, clouds are snowing, rivers are flowing...

Deep Voices

4: DEEP VOICES
Once there was this passage across the great ocean / Then
there were the chains and fields and muddy rivers flowin’
Now listen to the breeze just past the fields / Listen to
the breeze just past the trees and up those hills / They sing
in deep voices, Singing deeper than the words They sing in
deep voices, the saddest songs I’ve ever heard / Once there
was a black crowe, he tells the red bird /
Then the red bird tells the robin what he
heard / Now the robin tells her babies sto-
ries from the fields / Now the robin tells
her babies what strange fruit those fields
yield / I have dreams of better days when I
look into my baby’s eyes / Those eyes, those
cries, that’s where my courage lies, So I’ll
do anything – to stay alive. / First you feel
your beating heart pushing through the skin
/ Then you hear the music rising from within
Now listen to your soul, sing with meaning,
every word / Sing your songs like prayers as
though it’s your last words / Sing in deep
voices, Sing deeper than the words/ Sing in
deep voices, sing as though it’s your last words

You can doubt the stars are fire / You can
doubt truth to be a liar / but never doubt
this / feel it when we kiss / how I have fall-
en for you / You can doubt the mountains will
stand / You can doubt the oceans to be land
but never doubt this / feel it in my kiss / how
I have fallen for you / When even the daffo-
dils unveil themselves of the morning dew / I
will never fall out of love with you / You can
doubt there’s salt in the sea / You can doubt
the force of gravity / but never doubt this /
everytime we kiss / how I have fallen for you

Sing To Me

6: Sing to Me
I know a handsome man, who, when he’s on a stage / It’s as if my
heart is freed from it’s cage / When he sings and really makes that
joyful noise / He’s not like all the rest, all the other silly boys
/ I can not explain it, how my head starts spinning ‘round / You
won’t hear me complain once my feet barely touch the ground
Sing to me, sing to me / Ba da da ba ba , Ba da da ba dee
So sweet! / When he sings to me / He puts the girls to fren-
zy with his swingin’ style / I’m not the only one seeing a
wedding aisle / To be his blushing bride to be / All the pretty
girls thinking romantically / Here I go again, how he sets
my heart to dance / Don’t want to just be friends now that
I’ve found my true romance / It’s irrational – (don’t make no
sense) / It’s unfashionable – (but in my own defense) / He’s
irresistible - ( profoundly intense) / I mean no offense to the
better senses of the highly sensible... it’s just that when he...

7: The Balloon Song
All the smiles and all the laughter, Little kids and their happy ever afters / And a balloon set free with it’s invisible wings / The candle glow and lit up faces, Make a wish and see the places we’ll go / The dreams we dream are such precious little things..... / Never knew how fast it goes, Never knew how the darkness closes in Until the time comes to let go / Someone standing there with a pin, something causes the air to grow thin, / The dreams we dream are such fragile little things.....
Clouds float by slow and lazy / Birds chirping back and forth in song / These clouds could really make you crazy / But I could stay up here all day long / The wreckage of feeling lost, Failure comes at such a cost / Mine have been like poison and medicine / But there’s no way I’d ever trade, lessons learned for an easier way / The dreams we dream are such perilous little things..... / Promise me you won’t forget, Dreams don’t fly among regret / Once you set it free, it has invisible wings
Made of triumph and setbacks and sorrows, Full of promise
for tomorrow / The dreams we dream are such precious little things.....

8: Old Man Moses Written by Danielle Vaughn copyright 2012 (ASCAP)
Old man Moses, no one listens to you / Even though a burning bush told you to / Ido what I do / Just like you / Because He asked me to / He asked me too / The bur-dens on my back / weigh me down / Giving me cause to sorrow and frown / Rocky terrain and rugged ground / But He’s leading me / glory bound / When people ask, / “who made you so smart” / I don’t know what to say / to a hard hard heart / I feel
like I’m playing your part / in the same old play / with no end and no start / Forty years wandering / in a foreign place / Fleeing from an enemy / searching for grace / Weary, forlorn / keeping up with this pace / Looking forward to gazing / on His sweet face / Old man Moses, no one listens to you / Even though a burning bush told you to / I do what I do / Just like you / Because He asked me to / He asked me too

Chocolate Kisses
04:41
|

Many years ago he got down on his knees / with nothing but stars in
his eyes / He promised her roses and a white picket fence / In his hand
was a silver surprise. / A chocolate confection / A gift of perfection
‘Twas all the poor man had to give / Exchanging their vows / Saving
for a dream house.... / But for now, all he has to give: / are Chocolate
kisses / for the Mrs. / Mmmm, but the man, he’s / more handy than the
candy / A little kiss goes a long, long way / At the end of a
weary day / Chocolate kisses for the Mrs. / Mmmm, the candy
reminds her of how he’s / far better than diamonds / or even a glass
slipper / It’s the little things that make / for happy ever afters

Hold me close and hold me fast /
The tender spell you cast / This is
La Vie En Rose / When you kiss me,
heaven sighs / And though I close
my eyes / I see La Vie En Rose /
When you press me to your heart /
I’m in a world apart / A world where
roses bloom / And when you speak
Angels sing from above / Every days
seem to turn into love songs / Give
your heart and soul to me / And
life will always be / La Vie En Rose
